General Motors released that good news that some major reinvestment money would be placed right here in Flint.

$877 Million will be used to build a new body shop at the existing Flint Truck Assembly plant on Vanslyke Rd.  This is great news for Flint, and surrounding areas, as many jobs will be created for local workers.

The construction is scheduled to begin early 2016, and be completed sometime in 2018. The good news is being received well by everyone, including Congressman Dan Kildee, who said,

“Flint is the birthplace of General Motors and we are proud to have them invest in our community. GM’s new investment means that our workers will continue to build award-winning vehicles right here in Flint to be sold around the world. Over $1.8 billion in combined investments by GM in recent years is an economic boon for the city and is helping to employ thousands of local workers.
Flint is one of only two locations in the US that produces heavy duty trucks for GM.
