General Motors is planning on laying off 2,000 plant workers, and one of the plants that will be hit is in Lansing.

The official plan from GM is to cut the third shift line in early 2017, and lay off the employees that work thirds.

The reason is due to the slow down of sales for certain models that the Lansing plant produces.

So far there is no word on if the workers will be relocated, or if the plant has any plans on opening the third shift line back up later in the year.
