When it comes to hip-hop, leaking phone calls is just another tool in the toolshed for a rapper to use to expose their enemy. So it's not strange to see that there have been more than a few instances where a rapper — or a rapper's wife — has leaked a private conversation to the public this year.

The most notable one in 2016 is without a doubt Kim Kardashian's internet-breaking leak featuring Kanye West and Taylor Swift, in which Yeezy asks permission to use the now infamous "Famous" line "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous." That one line reignited the Swift/West feud that's been going on since 2009.

Another big phone call leak recently features Lil Yachty's conversation with Soulja Boy about their beef and Beanie Sigel's talk with The Game discussing being at odds with Meek Mill. It's very apparent rappers are recording their phone calls these days and using them for ammunition when the time is right. Looks like they're taking a page out of the history books with this one.

With the rash of leaked phone calls popping up lately, XXL takes a look back at some of the infamous moments over the years featuring 50 Cent, Young Buck and more.

  • Beanie Sigel's Phone Call With The Game Leaks

A beef between The GameMeek Mill and Beanie Sigel took a weird turn when audio of a phone conversation between Beans and Game discussing the Dreamchasers MC surfaced.

The leak, first posted by the website Fameolous, was released as a snippet from someone who was previously associated with Sigel’s State Property crew.

“He violated me, my nigga,” Game says on the phone call.

Beans responds, “You got every right to do whatever you want to do to Meek. That’s y’all beef. I’m not calling about Meek. Literally, I could give two shits. We not making no paper with Meek. Meek ain’t trying to do nothing with me. He ain’t call me to ask me to do a record or nothing.”

  • Lil Yachty Leaks Phone Conversation With Soulja Boy

The beef between Lil Yachty and Soulja Boy is one that no one asked for and it's turning into something very bizarre. The two rappers got into it after Soulja posted Instagram pics with India Love.

The beef was thought to be squashed, however, Yachty tried to play Soulja Boy by sharing a phone conversation they had.

“As you can see, this nigga’s fried," Yachty says. "I don’t want anything to do with it. I’m not gonna say nothing. I never apologized, bro, I didn’t have a reason to, I didn’t do anything wrong. He called me last night out the blue, apologized to me. I didn’t call him, he called me. Liar. Cmon bruh. You a joke.”

  • Kim Kardashian Leaks Kanye West’s Phone Call With Taylor Swift Approving “Famous” Line

In June 2016, Kim Kardashian West leaked the phone call between her husband Kanye West and Taylor Swift where he ran the “Famous” line by the pop singer.

The footage shows Kanye talking on the phone with Taylor and rapping, “For all the Southside niggas that know me best, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.” It is important to note that the video Kim leaked left out the second line – “I made that bitch famous.”

“All I give a fuck is what makes you feel good as a person and as a friend,” says ‘Ye. “I really appreciate you telling me about it. That’s really nice,” replies Taylor.

“I just feel like I had a responsibility to you as a friend. Thanks for being so cool about it,” adds Kanye in response.

“It’s a really good thing to do and a really good show of friendship, so thank you,” said Swift later.

Taylor Swift previously bashed Kanye about the line at the Grammys during her acceptance speech for Album of the Year award for 1989.

“As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there—there are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” Swift said.

In an interview with GQ, Kim directly addresses the Taylor/Kanye phone call re: “Famous:” “She totally approved that,” Kardashian West said. “She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much s–t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved…And then they sent an attorney’s letter like ‘Don’t you dare do anything with that footage,’ and asking us to destroy it.”

A couple of months later, the convo leaked.

“You mean to tell me Juicy J album better than mine?” he added, “Is that what you trying to tell me?”
