Chris Mintz charged the shooter at Umpqua Community College, according to witnesses, the Army Veteran was shot several times as he tried to save his classmates.

His cousin, Derek Bourgeois, told The Daily Mail that Mintz faced the shooter Chris Harper-Mercer, who killed at least 10 people at the school in Roseburg.  Witnesses told reporters,

There was no way he was going to stand around and watch something this horrific happen.

Amazingly Mintz is expected to recover from his injuries, even though he was shot multiple times.  According to his family, both of his legs are broken and he will have to learn to walk again.

It's hard to find anything positive in the middle of such a senseless tragedy, but the heroism of Mintz, is definitely one of the bright spots.
