Within hours of Cardi B launching her debut album, April's Invasion of Privacy, the project was certified gold by the RIAA. Sure, it earned that certification due to a technicality—her breakout single "Bodak Yellow" had already been certified five-times platinum and 10 track units equal an album sale, hence Bardi's 500,000-selling gold status—but that hardly takes away from Bardi's first gold plaque for a full-length project.

Bardi's newest plaque was just one of many in a steady stream of them obtained by tenants of all corners of the rap world. 2017 XXL Freshman A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's The Bigger Artist LP was certified gold on March 5, meaning the Bronx rapper is now at the halfway mark to platinum status. And A Boogie wasn't the only Freshman to earn a new gold plaque, either.

Aminé solidified what was already a very successful 12 months when his debut LP Good for You was certified gold on January 16. Playboi Carti's eponymous debut mixtape earned a nice golden plaque that same month, on January 10. It's safe to say those two have put in some serious commercial work the last year, and this is probably just the beginning.

Other artists gaining gold plaques this year have been around the block a few times, but show no signs of slowing up. G-Eazy's latest project, The Beautiful & Damned, reached that milestone just last week (April 4). Former Freshman Lil Uzi Vert's The Perfect LUV Tape was certified gold on February 5.

Rounding out the list are a hodgepodge of hip-hop luminaries (Jay-Z, Eminem) and rising talents building what's becoming a solid track record of mainstream success (Young Dolph, 6LACK). XXL takes a look at all of them by listing every hip-hop artist who's reached gold status in 2018.
