Jay Z to Host Concert in Ohio for Hillary Clinton to Ignite Young Black Voters
As you may know, Ohio is an important battle ground state for both candidates, and so far the numbers have shown that Clinton has been trailing from the beginning. This isn't the first time Hov has involved himself in a presidential campaign, since he helped a then Senator Barack Obama win the 2008 race by reaching out to young voters and those from the hip-hop community. In fact, it's something the rapper mentioned in his 2009 cut "What We Talkin' About," off The Blueprint 3.
"'Cause I don't run rap no more, I run the map / A small part of the reason the President is black / I told him I got him when he hit me on the jack / Talking 'bout progress, I ain't looking back," he spit.
In this presidential race, however, Jay hasn't been as vocal as he was for President Obama, but he has shown support for the current Democratic nominee. Last month, both Hillary and her husband Bill visited the rappers Made in America concert and stopped at the voter's registration area. At this time, there hasn't been a date mentioned for the Ohio concert, nor a list of performers but that'll probably change in the coming days.
According to Buzzfeed, the Clintons will also be spearheading other concerts to ignite voters, including one with Ohio natives The Nationals and Jennifer Lopez in Miami that will take place next month.
