Kanye West Trolls With ‘Lift Yourself,’ Drops ‘Ye Vs. the People’ Feat. T.I. [LISTEN]
Kanye West has been the talk of the week on social media for his pro-Donald Trump tweets and his exchanges with Hot 97 personality Ebro Darden. After announcing that he would drop a new song that Ebro would appreciate, he did just that on Friday night (April 27).
The song “Lift Yourself” appears to be a well-crafted troll to Darden who has been very outspoken about West’s support of President Trump. One of the funniest aspects about the song is the lyrics itself.
At the end of the track, Yeezy raps, “Poop-de-di scoop / Scoop-de-di whoop Whoopty scoopty poop / Poop-di scoopty / Scoopty whoop / Whoop-de-di scoop, whoop poop.”
The art of trolling, you got to love it. If you want to hear the song, head over to KanyeWest.com.
However, later that night, West officially released his new single called “‘Ye Vs. the People” featuring T.I. via Power 106’s radio show The Liftoff.
The song, powered by a sample of the Four Tops' 1967 hit "7 Rooms of Gloom," features Kanye West and T.I. trading lyrics over his controversy surrounding his support for President Trump.
On the track, Tip questions West's "free thinking" views on Trump and feels he's turning his back on his fans.
"Fuck what you choose as your political party / You representin' dudes who seem crude and cold-hearted / With blatant disregard for the people who put you niggas in / So don’t you feel an obligation to them?" he raps.
"West responds to Tip spitting, "Make America Great Again, had a negative reception / I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction / Added empathy, care and love and affection / And y'all simply questionin' my methods."
Love him or hate him, it looks like Yeezy "Kanye'd" all of us. He certainly got our attention now.
In the end, it appears that West may be making a political album addressing his position on Trump and other social issues.
Also, it looks like West and John Legend are still the best of friends. Can you feel the love?
