The early '90s California rap scene, more specifically the G Funk era, was strongly influenced by the groovy jams of the '70s from acts like Parliament Funkadelic. The confluence still exists today, on smaller levels. Recently, the George Clinton-headed Funkadelic dropped a new remix to their 2015 song "Aint That Funkin' Kind of Hard on You" featuring Kendrick Lamar and Ice Cube.

This song is definitely for getting your funk on as its crisp drums and high pitched chords are a two-stepper's dream. Kendrick starts off the track using his laid back flow to get the point across. Cube comes at it more straight forward with lines like “It’s that self-made Kool-Aid, look what red and blue made/Turned O’Shea to N.W.A,” he raps.

This is not the first time Cube and George Clinton have linked up. Back in '94 the eccentric singer was on the song "Bop Gun (One Nation)" from the former N.W.A member's fourth solo album Lethal Injection. K. Dot and the funk god have worked together as well as Clinton is featured on Lamar's 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly for the intro track "Wesley's Theory."

Kendrick's latest project recently made a killing at the 2016 Grammys taking home five awards including Best Rap Album for TPAB, Best Rap/Sung collaboration for "These Walls," Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for "Alright" and Best Music Video for his role in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.”
