Kevin Gates has been imprisoned since October 2016, but on Wednesday (Sept. 6), he released his new video for "What If," one of two songs he's released since getting locked up. Watch the visual, directed by Walu, below.

The video takes place in Kevin's hometown of Baton Rouge, La. and seems to follow a character whose life closely resembles that of Gates. At the end, you see a mother feeding her two kids while their father prays in jail. It's almost certainly a parallel to Gates' wife and business partner, Dreka Gates, and their two kids, Islah and Khaza.

In addition, Gates shares an open letter to his fans at the end of the video. You can read the entire thing below via his Instagram.

The Atlantic Records rapper was originally sentenced to six months in jail for battery after kicking a fan in the chest during a show in Florida. But on the day he was set to be released from jail for that charge, a warrant was put out for his arrest in Cook County, Ill. for a weapons charge. He was subsequently sentenced to 30 months behind bars.

As mentioned, "What If" is one of two records Gates has dropped since being arrested last year. The other song is called "No Love."
