Kirk Cameron Defends His Anti-Gay Statements Like a Boss

For someone who hasn’t had a hit anything since the turn of the century, Kirk Cameron sure has a lot of opinions about things. And while of course he’s allowed to think what he thinks -- no matter how ignorant -- he should maybe consider closing his mouth and opening his mind.

Last March, the 'Growing Pains' actor stirred the media pot when he made anti-gay statements during an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN, saying homosexuality was “unnatural” and “detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.” He also said that he didn't support gay marriage because marriage itself was defined in the Garden of Eden as being “one man, one woman for life till death do you part."

It sounds to us like he’s more against gay divorce than he is against gay marriage, but we weren’t there so we didn't get to ask that follow-up.

Anyway, even after sending a letter of apology to ABC News, Cameron is back at it again.

In a recent speech at Liberty University in Virginia, he played his self-righteous persecution card and told the like-minded audience, “Sometimes, when a Christian is asked a question and has a conviction about not backing down and wussing out ... it can get you into some hot water.”

For his next move, he plunked down the sympathy card with cries of being “drug out to the public square” and “stoned, so to speak” and even “crucified” like the big JC himself. But, you know, without the horrific torture and miraculous rise from the dead and stuff.

For someone who claims that it’s his life’s mission to love all people, he certainly has turned a rather cold shoulder to a large segment of the population. Maybe he wants to love all people, he just doesn’t want to LOVE all people.

Regardless, it definitely seems like he doesn't want the people to love him back. Because we know we sure as hell don't.
