Life-Saving Liver Donation Leads To Love And Engagement [Video]

Chris Dempsey was at work in Frankfort, IL when he overheard a coworker talking about how his cousin, Heather Krueger, was in desperate need of a new liver. Krueger had been battling liver disease since 2004, and doctors had informed Krueger that in order for her to live someone would need to donate a new liver to her.

Even though Chris and Heather had never met, Chris overheard the conversation and decided to help by offering his liver for her. "When I heard about it, I just put myself in that position and said I would really want someone to help me."

Dempsey and Kruegar were a match and when the two met, love was in the air. The operation was a success and after a week of recovery in the ICU, they knew what they had was real.

“Getting through this, sticking with me through that and then after we get out, wanted to make it official. Just there, I knew he was special.” Kruegar said about meeting her now fiancé for the first time.

The couple is now set to get married this October.
