Rich Homie Quan spoke with the United Kingdom's Acton Entertainment recently and revealed a few details about his upcoming debut album and some of what he has in store for 2016. While that long anticipated debut, Rich in Spirit, is still without a release date, Quan did say that in addition to Ryan Leslie, Lil Wayne will serve as executive producer, and that fans can expect a new mixtape sometime this month.

Quan said of the mixtape that he's releasing it before the album, "just to let the fans know I haven’t lost it and let them know I’m still working every day. Working even harder. And this mixtape is gonna sound like an album."

In the interview, which can be viewed in full above, Quan also reveals that Timbaland will be producing a song on his album, and that Lil Wayne, whom Quan calls his biggest idol, often takes breaks while recording to skateboard. Of the lessons he's learned from Cash Money boss and Rich Gang benefactor Birdman, Quan says, "Keep your circle small. Never stop recording. And believe in yourself."

With Rich in Spirit due out some time this year, it sounds like Quan has learned a good deal including the difference between an artist's tastes and that of their fanbase. He notes of his 2015 single "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" that "it wasn’t my favorite. My best may not be your favorite song. It’s what the people want. And I can’t run away from what the people want."
