Lupe Fiasco Cancels Release of Albums: ‘I Get the Hint God’

It looks like another rapper is hanging up the mic. On Tuesday (Dec. 13), Lupe Fiasco announced on his Twitter account that he has cancelled all future releases of his albums.

Back in April, the Chicago rapper announced that he was dropping three albums in 2016: DROGAS, DROGAS light and SKULLS. But now it appears that none of those projects will get a proper release.

“I get the hint God. Yo Lupe fans it’s been fun and I hope you’ve had fun. I’m officially not releasing anymore music. Albums cancelled," he tweeted.

Nobody is exactly sure why Lupe is quitting rap or why the albums were shelved. Both the rapper's Twitter and Instagram accounts are private. Some have pointed to the 34-year-old rhymer's controversial track "N.E.R.D," where he calls out "dirty Jewish execs," as the reason why he's leaving rap. Apparently, the song was taken down from various music websites because his lyrics was deemed hate speech.

“Too many best rappers, not enough best rhymes though / Guess I’m delusional, used to doing it all the time so / Maybe I’m just jaded, out of touch and unrelated / Unable to connect greatness based on the person who makes it / Or maybe I just hate it / And that would make me a hater," he raps on the song.

Following Lupe's announcement, fans on Twitter expressed their disappointment.

"[I've] always appreciated ur ability to articulate ur point so i feel u. But thanks man. Real live. U contributed greatly," tweeted one fan. Another commenter wrote, "Okay so @LupeFiasco retired again. Such a shame I loved Tetsuo & Youth."

Still others don't believe Lupe Fiasco. "Lupe stop wasting our time with these childish games and just drop the album smh. everybody and they mama know u ain't retiring," tweeted one person.
