Mark Wahlberg appeared in Flint Township via video this week to announce the latest Wahlburgers location opening in Flint.

The new restaurant is part of a bigger project that the Genesee Valley Center is taking on right now. In the video announcement Wahlberg said that he wanted to be in Flint because he values a city that works hard and has love for their community.

Flint has never gotten the credit for being the hard working city that we are. The headlines always reflect the negative aspect of what has gone in our city lately, so it's good to see some positivity reaching out. Sure this is just a restaurant, but it's also a nod to the people of Flint. New investment in the city by such a high profile celebrity is never a bad thing.

The new Wahlburgers will be located in the vacant slot between Barnes & Noble and Bar Louis in the Outdoor Village. Wahlberg said that he anticipates the restaurant being open in fall of this year, and that he will be in Flint for the grand opening.

There were other announcements concerning the mall and new stores. Rogers and Hollands will take over the vacant spot in center court and Forever 21 will expand their square footage by moving in front of Macy's.

This is some much needed good news for Genesee Valley considering before the year is over they will have lost two of the four anchor stores (Burlington and Sears).
