Masta Ace still has it. On Friday (March 30), the Brooklyn MC and Juice Crew member stopped by NPR to perform on their Tiny Desk concert series giving fans a trip down memory lane.

Backed by a live band, the BK rhymer performs three tracks from three different time periods in his career. He starts things off with the song "Son of Yvonne" off his 2012 joint project with MF DOOM, MA Doom: Son of Yvonne. The track serves as a perfect starting point as he raps on about his upbringing and mom dukes.

"Yeah, I was born, son of Yvonne/Brownsville kid that wanna be on/Hit the streets run an be gone," he rhymes. "Outside with a curfew/Got lessons on honesty and virtue/And the people that'll hurt you/Drug addicts, ex-convicts/Living in a world surrounded by these conflicts."

Next he rolls into his most famous hit, the 1993 track "Born to Roll," giving the crowd multiple versions of the banger. He closes out with the revealing song "Story of Me" off his latest solo project The Falling Season (2016), where he spills his soul about his wins and losses in the music industry over the years.

Masta Ace's name still rings bells in lyricists circles today. For Ace's 50th birthday, Eminem paid homage by spitting the rapper's lines from the track "The Symphony."
