Meijer Is Closing Its Pierson Road Location In Flint

The Mt. Morris Township Meijer location has announced that it will be closing for good on May 22nd.

Employees of the store were told about the closing earlier today, and informed that there were plans to demolish the building.  Meijer did tell the employees that relocation possibilities would be explored, but obviously there was no guarantee.

The gas station and store building will be demolished, but there was no specific word on what the future plans were for the land.  The Pierson Rd. Meijer location opened in 1972, but some feel that it had become outdated.

This is a big blow for the northern end of Genesee County, considering that the VG's just East on Pierson Rd closed recently as well.  On top of all the jobs that will be lost, this will leave many people without a grocery store within convenient travel distance.
