Method Man and Redman Trade Bars on Unreleased Tim Westwood Freestyle

Tim Westwood continues to supply hip-hop heads with gems as he empties the vaults with unreleased material. The UK DJ’s latest release sees him unearthing a great freestyle from Method Man and Redman circa 1999.

This freestyle was done right around the time that Method Man and Redman released their Blackout! album, the two’s first project as a duo. Considering the time frame, it is no surprise that these MCs delivered an impressive performance. This is Johnny Blaze and Funk Doc in their prime, so expect to hear lots of slick rhymes as they tackle everything from Pharoahe Monch’s “Simon Says” to Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E.” The duo trade bars for 25 minutes in this must-listen audio for any hip-hop fan.

This release by Tim Westwood boasts some good timing as it comes right on the heels of Method Man’s birthday. The member of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan just celebrated his 45th birthday yesterday (March 2). The Staten Island member released his latest album called The Meth Lab as a prelude of sorts to his much anticipated Crystal Meth album. There is still no release date for that LP at this time.

Redman released his own prelude album too as last November saw the arrival of Mudface. The project is a bit of a teaser for Red’s long awaited Muddy Water 2. In an interview with XXL, the New Jersey rapper said that album would be released in 2016. He also stated that the rumored Blackout! 3 LP with Method Man is definitely going to happen as they hope to make it the soundtrack for How High 2.
