Michigan Man to Reunite With Corvette Stolen 33-Years Ago [VIDEO]

ABC US News | ABC Sports News

A Michigan man will soon be reunited with the Corvette that was stolen from him 33 years ago.

George Talley, who is now 71-years-old, thought he would never again see the new ride that was stolen from him along Detroit’s Jefferson Avenue back in 1981. However, after a representative from AAA contacted him last week and informed him that the car had been found in Mississippi, he is now anxious to have the vehicle back in his possession.

Since having a Corvette transported nearly 1,000 miles is a costly expense, General Motors, the company that manufactured the vehicle back in 1979, decided to pick up the tab in order to have Talley’s car returned. “Our VP, Mark Reuss, thought that a car lover should be reunited with his car,” a GM spokesperson told ABC News. “After he learned the news, he just felt compelled to reach out to him [George Talley].”

The vehicle is now in the possession of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, which reports the car in pretty good condition: it runs and has only 47,000 miles.

What Talley intends to do with his long lost Corvette once it is returned remains uncertain. “It’s a lucky day. When I get that car here in that driveway, we’ll go from there,” Talley told WXYZ.
