The FBI says that almost one in 10 bank robberies are now being pulled off by women, and that's almost double what is was a decade ago.

A forensic sociologist says, "They aren't just accomplices anymore." She says female robbers have always been more likely to rob for need and not for the thrill.

As for the reasons, she gives two primary reasons, “One is more independence on the part of women, a general cultural thing.  The other, more important thing: it’s a function of the economy.”

The other thing that separates women from men is that they usually give tellers  notes, instead of using a gun.
