There were plenty of surprises at the 2016 Coachella Music Festival over the weekend. On Saturday (April 16), Run the Jewels' set featured several surprise guests including a hip-hop veteran and a Democratic presidential nominee.

Before the rap tandem of Killer Mike and El-P hit the stage, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders introduced them to the Coachella crowd via a large video screen. Sanders thanked Killer Mike for his unwavering support and told El-P to keep up the good work.

“By the way, I thought the least I could do for both of you was to help you out by bringing a few young people together,” he stated. “So without further ado, I’d like to introduce my friends Run the Jewels.”

Later in the show, RTJ brought out Nas who performed “Made You Look” and saluted the duo for their ingenuity.

RTJ wasn’t finished yet. They also courted out Gangsta Boo for an exhilarating performance of their song “Love Again.” Finally, RTJ invited guitarist Gary Clark Jr. to rock a guitar solo for “Angel Duster.”
