Nelly Performs Throwback Hits ‘Hot in Herre’ & ‘Ride Wit Me’ for Off the Record [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]
Nelly is currently enjoying the success of his latest hit, “The Fix,” which flips Marvin Gaye’s 1982 classic ballad, “Sexual Healing.” But now the St. Louis rhymer is taking it back to the days when wearing a bandaid on his face was the norm by performing two throwback joints, “Hot in Herre” and “Ride Wit Me,” for The Boombox's Off the Record series.
Backed by a solid band, the rapper performs the songs, off his Nellyville and Country Grammar albums, respectively, with plenty of self-possessed confidence and smoothness. Dressed in a black-and-gray raglan shirt, leather shorts and plenty of gold hanging from his neck, Nelly certainly made it hot in our studio.
In our exclusive interview, Nelly opens up about the importance of self-confidence in an industry that typically tears down the weak. “Self-confidence is a must. [You] cannot succeed in this business without self-confidence,” he shares. “Because if you don’t believe, sure nobody else will believe.”
And we believe in Nelly.
