Nelly Will Be a Contributor on FS1’s ‘Skip and Shannon: Undisputed’
Nelly is putting down the mic and moving into the field of sports broadcaster. The St. Louis rapper has signed a development deal with Fox that will make him a contributor on FS1’s recently launched sports debate show, Skip And Shannon: Undisputed.
The program features Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe and moderator Joy Taylor discussing all-things sports. According to Billboard, Nelly will make his debut on the show on Nov. 1 at 9:30AM ET.
This isn’t a huge leap for the Grammy-winning artist. Nelly is a sports fanatic who was once scouted by the Pirates and Cardinals, and was the All-Star MVP for the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association in 1992.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, Jr., is also part owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets and is a huge supporter of the local high-school football team in St. Louis. In addition, Nelly has appeared on ESPN's First Take with Bayless before he left for Fox Sports 1.
In a 2010 interview with USA Today, Nelly admired Bayless for his opinionated thoughts.
“[Bayless] comes off as that guy in the barbershop who’s always got something to say,” he said. “Even if you don’t like him, you still want to hear what he’s got to say. So I think that’s why he comes off very well in the hip-hop community."
Skip and Shannon: Undisputed airs on FS1 daily from 9:30AM to 12PM ET.
