Shoe fans rioted at a mall in Florida because of Nike's latest limited edition sneaker -- the Foamposite Galaxy.

The angry mob was at a Footlocker at the mall when the store cancelled the midnight, first-come first-serve event for 200 pairs. Officials at the mall made the decision because of "safety concerns."

Police in riot gear held batons and tear gas as they lined up around the store. Some people tried running over the cops. There weren't any arrests.

eBay bidding on the $220 shoes reached $70,000.

Nike made only 1,200 pairs of the basketball shoes, which have glow-in-the-dark soles and a purple and pink galactic swirl pattern.

They went on sale at a handful of stores across the US to help promote the beginning of the NBA All-Star Game weekend.
