No, Kid Rock Did Not Discover A Giant Squid Washed Ashore On Lake Michigan

#FakeNews is taking over the world, to the point that people really believe giant squid are swimming around in the Great Lakes.

Fake News stores make it very hard to write articles for a living. Honestly, it’s hard not to jump on the #FakeNews train sometimes just to see what crazy things people will believe.

This week in “Don’t believe it because it’s fake news” a website called (Yup, that’s really the name of the website) posted an article claiming DNR Marine Biologist Dr. Debra Polowotski confirmed a giant squid on Good Harbor Bay. According to the fake news, the giant squid was 21 feet in length and is considered to be a “very rare fresh-water species”. After reading the entire article and scrolling all the way down to the bottom I discovered this little small detail at the bottom of the website..

This website is an entertainment website, news are created by users. These are humourous news, fantasy, fictional, that should not be seriously taken or as a source of information.

The funniest part about all of this is that this website claims Bobbie Ritchie (aka Kid Rock) discovered the giant squid. I mean seriously, Kid Rock is the first to discover a 21 foot squid? Stop believing everything you see on the internet!

Oh and if that wasn’t enough to convince you that giant squid are not invading the Great Lakes, a quick google search of “Can Giant Squad Live In Freshwater” proves that this story is not true. Squid can not tolerate freshwater. It’s just not true.

So just like mermaids aren’t real, neither are fresh-water squid. Good try Fake News.
