Fans of Netflix's critically-acclaimed original series 'Orange is the New Black' would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite aspect of the series, though the dry presence of former 'That 70's Show' star Laura Prepon's Alex would surely prove a favorite. That may make news of the latest 'Orange is the New Black' season 2 castings hard to bear, as Prepon will reportedly take a minimal role in season 2, before exiting entirely.

According to the reports, Prepon will appear in a minimum of season 2 episodes in order to resolve her story with lead character Piper (Taylor Schilling), with the door open thereafter for the character to return. For those unfamiliar with the series, Prepon's Alex provided the catalyst for the drama in tasking former lover Piper for the illegal act that eventually lands her behind bars, surprisingly alongside Alex.

Reports of Prepon's departure emerged from BuzzFeed, though Netflix execs and Prepon's representation have yet to confirm the news. To be fair, BuzzFeed were also the ones to break news of Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones' 'Parks and Recreation' season 6 exits, though we'll wait for official word from either Netflix or series creator Jenji Kohan.

Filming on 'Orange is the New Black' season 2 has already gotten underway in New York, but what say you? Would the series be hampered without Laura Prepon's character? Give us your thoughts after the trailer below, and check out the full Netflix season if you haven't already!
