The process of making Flint a one high school city is moving forward according to the Flint Community School Board.

The board voted to begin the process of closing down Flint Northwestern Academy at the end of this school year.

The resolution tasks the superintendent developing a plan that will close and repurpose the school. They must also plan how to get kids and staff into Flint Southwestern to start school next year.

This shouldn't come as a very big surprise to anyone considering the partial closing of Flint Northwestern at the end of last year. All of the Flint School sports are already run out of Southwestern, so the main job will be working out staffing and space issues.

Closing Northwestern is another tough pill to swallow for Flint residents that have already watched two beloved high schools close their doors.
