Just in case you were planning on going to an event at the Silverdome anytime soon, you might want to reschedule. The former home of the Lions and Pistons lost a fairly key part this week.

The same freezing cold wind that blew your trampoline or lawn furniture around a few days ago wreaked havoc on the Silverdome roof.

The good news is that the damage is not a major concern for Silverdome officials (and not for the reason I was expecting to hear, "Roofs are for wussies!")

The roof of the Silverdome had actually been deflated to start the process of renovations, so the wind damage might have actually helped the tear down job.  Rumors are that the old inflatable roof will be replaced with solar panels, to make the dome more energy efficient.

I remember going to watch the Pistons play in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Hawks in the Silverdome.  That doesn't have anything to do with this story, I just wanted to make myself sound about a million years old.
