Everybody say it together now: "OH HELLLLLLLLL NAWWWWWW!!!!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we vote "no" on this a few years ago?

A bipartisan group of former legislators (am I hearing that right? They don't even hold those jobs anymore?) have proposed that Michigan's gas tax should be increased by 47 CENTS PER GALLON in an effort to fix the roads.

In case you were wondering, yes. We already pay a gas tax of 26 cents per gallon that goes into the general fund that's supposed to fix the roads. For a detailed explanation of how road funding works in Michigan, click here. It's super helpful.

This proposal, which was unveiled yesterday, would raise the gas tax by 7 cents per gallon in 2020 and then by 5 cents per year through 2028.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that, even if this hike takes place, the roads will STILL be garbage. Anyone wanna place a bet? I'll double-down on it.
