Q-Tip Says He’s Featured on ‘Cruel Winter’ LP

One of the most glaring omissions on Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D. Music album ‘Cruel Summer’ was the absence of newly-signed member Q-Tip. The veteran rhyme-spitter and producer acknowledges the fans’ disappointment but he has some good news — he will appear on the follow-up album.

In an interview HipHopSince1987, Q-Tip was asked if he would be featured on the ‘Cruel Winter’ album. “Oh yeah, for sure,” he said. “I can’t really let out too much details about it, but yeah, I’ll be on it. Kanye had the plan all the while for that.”

In the meantime, the A Tribe Called Quest founder is working on his solo project called ‘The Last Zulu.’ While the title is in reference to his affiliation to Afrika Bambaataa’s Zulu Nation, it also inspired by his results from an African ancestry test. “So the DNA went out and whatever. The results came back and I found out that all through my charts I was South African Zulu,” he says. “And the rare thing about it is that in America like during the slave trade, it was like single percentage of people that came from that region because it was so far south in Africa. So it’s rare for someone to be living in America to be from that region.”

No official release date has been confirmed for both the ‘Cruel Winter’ project or Q-Tip’s solo effort ‘The Last Zulu,’ as of yet.
