In the midst of allegations relating to holding women hostage, such as Joycelyn Savage, in a sexual cult of sorts, R. Kelly has begun to assemble his legal team. He recently hired Monique Pressley, who recently represented Bill Cosby, as his attorney.

Pressley represented Bill Cosby throughout his constant barrage of sexual assault cases. In December 2015, she was at the lead of a countersuit against seven of the women accusing him. She took part in an interview with HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill where she said that the women who accused Cosby should report immediately if they wanted justice. "Report, go to the hospital...do all of the things that rape counseling centers tell women to do immediately," she said. Pressley stepped down from her position in Cosby's legal team in early October of last year.

Kellz came under fire recently thanks to a Buzzfeed report by Jim DeRogatis claiming that, according to parents and former associates, the 50-year-old singer is the head of a cult holding young women hostage in Atlanta and Chicago. According to the report, the young women can't use their cellphones or go to the bathroom without Kelly's permission. They are also required to keep out of touch with family, being seldom allowed to contact them. Authorities managed to get in touch with Joycelyn Savage who told the world that she was fine. Since the story broke, representatives for Kelly have told TMZ that the singer denies the claims made in Buzzfeed's report. "Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name," the rep for the singer said.

Not everyone believes that R. Kelly should jump into getting legal teams ready. Director, John Singleton believes that Kelly has done nothing illegal.
