The ice storm that hit Mid-Michigan over the weekend has left more than 250,000 people without power.  Consumers and DTE are working to restore power, but most people are not happy with the restoration times they have received.

Restoration times are reported as late as Saturday, leaving many people in the dark on Christmas. Saginaw County is expected to be restored by Christmas Eve, but Shiawasee, Genesee and Lapeer counties may not see power restored until Friday or Saturday.

With frigid temperatures coming into our area tonight and tomorrow it's very important that you find a warm place to stay.  If family, friends and hotels are out of the options then please look into a shelter until your power is restored.

A temporary Red Cross shelter is set up right now and will be open around the clock.  The shelter, located in the downtown Red Cross building at 1401 S. Grand Traverse. For more information, call (989) 737-1985.
