When school is cancelled because of bad weather, every parent is faced with the dilemma of what to do with the kids.

If the cancellation is because of snow, then you can just send them outside to play, or shovel if they are in trouble. When school is closed because of the extreme cold temperatures like we are facing next week, it's a whole different story.

Last week I took my kids to Play Big inside the Genesee Valley Center on one of their snow days. Play Big has taken over the huge space vacated by Burlington Coat Factory.

My kids are 9 and 12, so I was a little bit skeptical about an indoor bounce house place. I was surprised by the range of different activities they had once we got there. Their Facebook page details all of the things to do for kids.

Over 100 arcade games, over 15 different bounce houses for all ages, virtual reality gaming, soccer pool tables, mini glow golf, huge interactive bounce houses, birthday parties, princess parties, super hero parties, Xbox tournaments, live events and much more

We ended up spending a few hours there, just exploring all of the different things to do. The attendant mentioned that they were adding laser tag, and Fowling in the next few weeks as well.

I'm the kind of parent that would prefer to send the kids outside to play in the snow, but it's nice knowing we have a decent alternative close to home for when the weather is too bad outside.
