Schoolboy Q’s Label Made Him Put Miguel Collaboration on ‘Blank Face’

ScHoolboy Q had a listening party on Wednesday night (June 29) for his upcoming album Blank Face, and those in attendance heard some interesting tidbits about the project. Specifically, Q told the crowd that his label made him include a Miguel collaboration on the album.

Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg hosted the listening party in New York. According to several tweets, the South Central, Los Angeles MC didn't want "Overtime" featuring Miguel and Justin Skye on Blank Face, because it sounds like a "bootleg ass" version of a previous ScHoolboy song, "Studio." However, the label felt differently and apparently forced ScHoolboy's hand.

Although Q wasn't happy with the decision, he apparently admitted that the label might know something he doesn't and acknowledged it might have made the right choice for him.

Blank Face is set to drop on July 8 via Top Dawg Entertainment/Interscope. The 17-track album will feature artists including Kanye West, Vince Staples, Jadakiss, Tha Dogg Pound, Anderson .Paak and more. Check back to the site to stream the highly anticipated project when it officially drops.
