She Votes For Obama Because Of The Free Phones [Video]

A group of President Barack Obama supporters gathered outside of a Mitt Romney rally near Cleveland.  Cameras started rolling when one Obama supporter talked (screamed) about why everyone should vote for Obama. FREE PHONES SON!

She starts off saying, "Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in president, you know. He gave us a phone, he gonna do more."

The person shooting the video asks, How did he give you a phone? To which the woman replies: "You sign up! If you on food stamps, you on social security, you got low income, you disability…"

The video includes a cut at that point and picks up with the filmer asking "What's wrong with Romney?" The Obama supporter says:  "Romney, he sucks! Bad."

Obama Phones

This is one of those moments where I'm sure our President is grateful for the support, but this lady isn't helping at all.  In fact, if I'm Mitt Romney I'd probably start every rally from now till the end of the campaign with the video of this lady.

So where do the "Obama Phones" come from? The Washington Examiner explains the program.

Lifeline, established in 1984 was originally created to subsidize landline phone service for low income Americans, funded by government-collected telecommunication fees, paid by consumers.

In 2008, the program was expanded to support cell phones which quickly escalated the cost of the program. In 2008 the program cost $772 million, but by 2011 it cost $1.6 billion.

Several websites have been created to promote "free" government cell phones, including the "The Obama Cell Phone" website at Obamaphone.net.
