While the Academy Awards, the film industry's most prestigious ceremony, has typically had a problem recognizing minority performers and filmmakers, the 2016 Oscar nominations may be their most egregious oversight to date. Between the 20 actors and actresses nominated in the leading and supporting acting categories, not one person of color is nominated, sparking the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.

In recent days, both Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee have come out against the award show, saying they plan on boycotting the festivities, and on Monday night (Jan. 18), Snoop Dogg shared a few choice words via Instagram echoing that same sentiment.

"Somebody asked me, was I gonna watch the motherfuckin’ Oscars?" the rapper says in the above video, clearly frustrated with the continued lack of recognition. "Fuck no. The fuck am I gonna watch that bullshit for? They ain’t got no niggas nominated. All these great movies and all this great shit y’all keep stealing from us. Fuck you! Fuck you!"

Among the performances snubbed are Will Smith in Concussion, Samuel L. Jackson in The Hateful Eight and Idris Elba in Beasts of No Nation. Additionally, Creed director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler went unrecognized. The NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton was nominated for a single Academy Award however, for Best Original Screenplay. Snoop is portrayed in Straight Outta Compton by Keith Stanfield albeit briefly.

The 88th Academy Awards will be broadcast on Feb. 28 with host Chris Rock, who last hosted the ceremony in 2005. Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs issued a statement with regard to the nominations' lack of diversity on Monday (Jan. 18), saying that the Academy will take immediate measure to correct the issue. There is little doubt that Rock and others will continue to comment on the issue of diversity which Boyz n the Hood director John Singleton sees as less of a problem than others.

In addition to Snoop's Instagram vent, 50 Cent likewise turned to the social platform to plea with Chris Rock not to host the Awards. "Chris please do not do the oscar awards," 50 wrote earlier today (Jan. 19). "You mean a lot man, don't do it. Please."
