Residents of Flint don't have to worry about a water bill for the month of May thanks to Governor Snyder and Mayor Karen Weaver's new plan to flush the water system.

Governor Snyder and Flint Mayor Karen Weaver announced on Thursday that Flint residents will not have to pay for water for the month of May as the state is encouraging residents to flush out their water. Residents are being asked to flush their water and turn off water filters for at least 5 minutes a day.

The state of Michigan will pay the water bills for May, and residents are strongly encouraged to flush the water in their bathrooms and kitchen.

Earlier this year Snyder started a relief fund that covers 65 percent of the water bills for Flint residents.
