A South Carolina cop has been charged with murder after shooting a 50 year-old man on Saturday.

Michael T. Slager (an officer for the North Charleston Police Department) has been charged with murder after shooting and killing a 50 year old black man. The officer claimed he shot the victim because he had feared for his life after a scuffle during a traffic stop on Saturday. A video was released on Tuesday evening showing Slanger shoot the fleeing suspect eight times, killing the 50 year old man. North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey announced during a press conference today that the officer will be charged with murder. Summey also commented “When you’re wrong, you’re wrong, and if you make a bad decision, don’t care if you’re behind the shield or just a citizen on the street, you have to live by that decision.”
