A new super lice that is resistant to over the counter treatments has been found in 25 states, including Michigan.

With back to school time coming, every parent should be conscious of lice outbreaks and how to treat them.  There are some prescriptions available to treat the super lice, but you may not have to take a trip to the doctor.

Experts say that mineral oil and baby oil are very effective treatments, and the lice have no way of developing a resistance.  The recommendation is to saturate the hair with oil, comb it through and leave it on for at least four to six hours. Repeat as necessary.

The CDC estimates that nationwide, there are as many as 12 million lice infestations each year in kids ages three to 11.
