T-Pain, Wiz Khalifa and More Salute Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter III'

Lil Wayne should be in a good mood right now. The Young Money mogul finally resolved his legal issues with Birdman, which now frees him to release his long-awaited ‘Tha Carter V’ album. And today (June 10) marks the 10th anniversary of Tha Carter III, which was released back in 2008.

The Grammy-winning collection boasts four chart-topping singles, including "Lollipop,” "A Milli", "Got Money" (featuring T-Pain) and "Mrs. Officer" (featuring Bobby V). Since its release, rap fans have argued that Tha Carter III is undoubtedly a classic album. But no matter what side you are on in the debate, the LP certainly influenced a lot of today’s rappers.

On this special day, several A-list rappers took time out to salute Lil Tunechi on his phenomenal album. Artists such as T-Pain, Wiz Khalifa, Tyga, Chance the Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign and more recognized the greatness in Wayne and looked back at how Tha Carter III influenced their careers.

T-Pain who recorded "Got Money" with Weezy explained how the song initially came about. "After 'Lollipop' dropped, it was my mission to work with Wayne," he recalled. "Then I finally saw him pass by me when I was at the same studio he was at while he was still recording Tha Carter III.'"

"I went back to my studio and bounced a hook I had just did, told my ppl to send it to Wayne’s room. He heard me then," he continued. "'Got Money' was born and I will be forever grateful for the long friendship that followed. Wayne’s influences on the rap game are still very much apparent in today’s music and, I’m sure, for many generations in the future."

Wiz Khalifa appreciated the lyrics and the production on the album. “Wayne is one of the most influential rappers and Tha Carter III changed the game," he said. "All the production and lyrics on here are on point and this was the soundtrack to life when it came out."
