Michigan is beginning to require minimum work requirements for able-bodied recipients of food assistance, and the results of the welfare drug testing pilot program are in.

Welfare recipients in Michigan could soon forfeit their benefits if they do not remain drug free. Earlier this week, the Michigan House approved a pilot program that would force “suspicious” individuals to submit to random drug tests in order to maintain their benefits.

In Lansing, Michigan, the Senate has just moved closer to having all welfare recipients pass a drug test to keep benefits. At least three counties in the State of Michigan will participate in the new testing program.

The state of Michigan has approved a proposal that may cut some welfare recipients benefits if they fail a drug test. The Bill has been talked about for years but it was just approved in the beginning of May. This Bill, which is referred to as House Bill 4118 would affect people who are seeking cash assistants, and who are under suspicion of drug use.

A good education is the foundation of this great country. Everyone should be entitled to a great education, no ifs ands or buts. Most people believe in order to succeed in life you have to succeed in education.
