Texting and driving is one of those things everyone knows is a bad idea... but many still do it anyway. Before you send another text from behind the wheel, here are a few stats you should look at.

According to TextingAndDrivingSafety.com (an ironic name for an anti-text and driving website for sure),  11 teens are killed daily as a result of texting and driving. Add that to the 1.6 million accidents and 330,000 accidents a year caused by the careless habit and we've got an epidemic on our hands.

Teens aren't the only ones texting and driving though, 27% of adults admitted to texting and driving and 15% of kids say their parents have texted while driving with them in the car. Pretty scary stuff!

Apparently, it's time to change the conversation about texting while driving. A recent study revealed that 77% of young adults believe they can safely text and drive while another 55% claim that it's easy! If we all, as a community, start putting it out there that texting while driving is not okay and get the dangerous truth about it out there -- perhaps we can change the public perception about this.

It wasn't so long ago that people in America didn't take drinking and driving that serious. Cops would often just follow you home if you were caught drunk behind the wheel years ago. So if it's possible to go from that to a completely serious view of driving while intoxicated, we could get there with texting while driving as well. In fact, texting behind the wheel was found to be more dangerous to teens than intoxicated driving.
