Ice-T just released the trailer for his new documentary "The Art of Rap".  The film features interviews with more than 50 emcee's about what inspired them to get into their craft.  Check out the trailer below, and realize why Ice-T feels like he needs to do this to save rap music.

Ice-T has been one of the biggest critics of today's hip hop.  Since his earlier twitter war with Soulja Boy, Ice-T has been vocal about the lack of content in current rap music.  He talked to Billboard.com about how that inspired him to put the documentary together.

"The hip-hop scene [has] became so pop." Ice-T continues. "I was like, 'I'm gonna do a movie about real rappers and what inspired us.' Maybe that'll hit a reset button on the game and let these kids know it's not just about a pop record. Rap can do a lot."

Putting the documentary together was a matter of talking to the people who Ice-T felt embodied real rap music.  He interviewed more than 50 emcee's including Kanye West, Ice Cube, Eminem, Melle Mel and more.

Ice-T is one of the few artists who has been successful in every outlet he has pursued.  Music, Movies and TV have all come natural to Ice-T and probably makes him the most qualified to tackle the subject.  I can't wait to see the finished product, but until then the trailer will have to do.
