'The September 11th Initiative' is a project by StoryCorps that focuses on the stories of how individuals were affected by 9-11.

Sunday will mark 10 years since almost 3,000 people lost their lives in the deadliest attack on America we have seen in our lifetime.  That day has sparked wars, unity, conspiracy theories, movies and so much more.  What is often forgotten are the individual stories from that day.

That's the point of 'The September 11th Initiative' by StoryCorps.  And if you ask me, this might be one of the best 9-11 tributes ever put together.

I personally do not like watching the videos of the planes crashing into the World Trade Center.  I like the conspiracy theories even less.  That's why I am such a fan of this tribute.  StoryCorps did not rush out a story filled with controversy to generate buzz.  They took the long road of getting real stories, and presenting them in a way that everyone could understand.

Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 35,000 interviews from more than 70,000 participants.

Inviting family members, friends, and coworkers to share and record memories of their loved ones offers a meaningful way to memorialize and celebrate the lives that were lost or impacted by the events of September 11th.

You can watch more stories here or listen to all of the audio recordings.  These are three featured animations, starting with my favorite.
