Tigers Miguel Cabrera Keeps The MVP In The D
Detroit Tigers All Star Miguel Cabrera turned a close AL MVP race into a landslide taking 22 of the 28 first place ballots. Despite a disappointing end to the season, Miggy made history in 2012 and it was capped off with an AL MVP award.
Miggy left this message for his fans on Twitter shortly after the announcement was made. Cabrera is the first person in 45 years to win the Triple Crown and led the Tigers to a World Series appearance so many thought he was a shoe in for the MVP award. But Mike Trout had an outstanding season, winning the Rookie of the Year award, and was supposed to challenge for the award. In the end though support from Verlander early in the season may have helped sway voters.
Despite the end of the season, it was a pleasure to watch the Tigers play all year and the MVP is in 'The D' . . . exactly where it belongs. Congrats Miggy!
