1964 was the year that 'Sports Illustrated' decided that sports wasn't going to be enough.

Babette March was the model that graced the first ever 'Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition' 48 years ago today.

Check out her cover shot, which is surprisingly revealing for 1964.

I'm not sure why, but I pictured this cover to have a woman wearing pants, a turtle neck and some moon boots.  I just thought it would be much more conservative.
