Rick Ross has released his ninth album, Rather You Than Me, today (March 17) and the initial response to the project has been overwhelmingly positive.

It’s no secret that Rozay is one of the best beat selectors in the game. And on his new album, the Miami boss raps over a variety of production styles including trap music-inspired beats to sampled hip-hop soul (peep the fantastic track "I Think She Like Me" which samples The Stylistics' "People Make the World Go Round").

The LP’s first track, “Apple of My Eye,” is a soulful banger with Ross delivering introspective rhymes about his past life as a street hustler to now becoming a rap mogul signing six-figure deals.

But the one song that has everyone talking is "Idols Become Rivals" where Ross throws shots at Birdman for his mistreatment of Lil Wayne. On the song, the 41-year-old rapper airs out his grievances with the Cash Money CEO. In several verses, Ross accuses Birdman of allegedly robbing artists on Cash Money.

"Knew that you would never visit BG / Turk came home, take that boy a three piece / Shootin' dope, usin' coke, movin' like you the Folks," he spits, adding, "You would give us self esteem and motivate our drive / But was in our pockets by the time we count to five.

He then raps, "I pray you find the kindness in your heart for Wayne / His entire life, he gave you what there was to gain / I watched this whole debacle so I'm part to blame / Last request, can all producers please get paid?"

In response to the song, Lil Wayne thanked Ross for having his back. He tweeted:

Fans have embraced Rick Ross' new album and posted their reactions on Twitter.

"Rick Ross remains one of the most consistent rap artist in the game! Consistently releases good projects," wrote one person. Another fan tweeted, "Guys remember Rick Ross is exec producing Nas' next album. Listen to the beats on this album !!! I'm excited. Rozay has a great musical ear."

Others hope that Birdman will release a response song to Rozay and address some of his harsh criticisms of him. "Bruh I hope birdman fires back at rick Ross. I already know it will be trash but it will be something funny to laugh at," tweeted one user.
