The Traverse City Police Department are making sure the public is aware that just because it's the busiest time of the year in TC doesn't mean its going to be a free for all.

The Traverse City Cherry Festival is set to kick off July 2nd and go through July 9th, and the local police are teaming up with the Michigan State Police to make sure everyone enjoys a safe time at the festival.

The Traverse City Police Department posted a statement on their Facebook page warning tourists and residents that drinking on Clinch Park Beach is prohibited. Police also warned that dogs are not allowed on the beach during Cherry Fest and also stated that undercover officers will be present to crack down on underage drinking.

The Traverse City Cherry Festival runs through the 9th of July and brings more than 500,000 to the Northern Michigan city.
