Vehicle City Fashion Week Launches This Week at Courtland Center

You don't always have to leave Flint to experience the world outside of Genesee County. Vehicle City Fashion Week brings New York City runways to Courtland Center this week. Mark your calendars. 

In 2011, VCFW creator Kala Wilburn's brother was gunned down. Her greif fueled the creation of the event to fight against violence. Since 2011, the local fashion week has grown in popularity. This year's fashion week will focus on Michigan designers.

According to ABC12, Kala said,

"This year we're focusing on just Michigan designers and all of them have experience in sewing, so they're really great designers and it's going to be awesome," said Kala Wilburn, of Vehicle City Fashion Week.

I truly believe you should try and attend this week of events. A portion of the proceeds will help send a local student to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I may even step out and attend.
