VH1 will delve into hip-hop and its influence on American culture and economy in a new documentary titled 'The Tanning of America.'

The documentary, which will be shown over the course of four nights, is based upon industry veteran Steve Stoute's book, 'The Tanning of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture That Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy.' From the trailer, we see that the doc examines cultural turning points like Barack Obama winning the presidency.

The project features interviews from celebrities like Diddy, Mariah Carey and Al Sharpton.

VH1 will air the first episode on Feb. 24 at 11PM / 10PM CT.
