Hip-hop lost another artist too soon after Young Greatness was fatally wounded outside of a New Orleans' Waffle House early this morning (Oct. 29). Several artists and hip-hop industry insiders have already sent out their condolences to his loved ones as news of the rapper's tragic death continues to spread.

Known for his 2015 single, "Moolah," Greatness was gunned down in the parking lot on Elysian Fields Avenue around 1:35 a.m. WDSU reporter Christina Watkins tweeted Young Greatness, born Theodore Jones, was shot in the back. After the shooting, two suspects allegedly fled the scene in Greatness' car. The 34-year-old rhymer was pronounced dead on the scene.

Quality Control CEO Pierre "Pee" Thomas, who signed Greatness to QC a few years ago, reacted to the "Paper" rapper's death on his Instagram story shortly after news broke. "Rest In Peace @younggreatness7 Prayers "for your family and kids." He also later wrote, "Life so short. Cherish every moment."

Greatness was initially signed to QC, but parted ways with the label in April 2017, and then joined Cash Money Records. Despite leaving the label, Greatness noted that there were no hard feelings.

"It's no ill will with me or Coach K or nothing like that," Greatness said of his departure from QC. "But sometimes when you are doing business we all have different opinions, different way we see things. Sometimes things are not meant to work."

WDSU's Kweilyn Murphy spoke to Jones' mother, Jeanine Rose, shortly after the shooting. "I can't stand that place—they can have it, with their politics and potholes," she told the news outlet, referring to New Orleans. "It's too many mothers taking slow walks to sad tombs."
